Gilgandra Basketball Association is incredibly proud to celebrate two of our own, Darcy Morris and Cale McEwen, as they finish their junior representative basketball journey.

Since the end of representative basketball in Gilgandra, Darcy and Cale have been playing with Dubbo Rams Basketball Association, the last two years being coached by former Gilgandra resident and long-time club coach, Mick O'Neill, alongside his son Rhys O'Neill, himself a former Gilgandra representative player.

The team went back-to-back undefeated division one under 18s male Western Junior League (WJL) champions, finishing with an extraordinary unbeaten 23–0 win-loss record across the two seasons.

Their success didn't stop there.

The team went on to compete at Country Championships, stepping up to division two and producing an outstanding performance against a much larger Canberra side, securing an impressive 25-point victory.

They also represented their region at State Cup at under 18s level, continuing to test themselves against some of the strongest junior basketballers in the state.

It was a fitting way to close out a junior representative chapter that has been filled with hard work, competition, friendship and plenty of proud moments.

For Gilgandra Basketball Association, achievements like these are about more than wins and championships.

They are a wonderful reflection of the talent, commitment and opportunities that can grow from a small country basketball community.

Darcy and Cale have represented Gilgandra with pride and have shown what is possible when talented young players combine dedication with the support of their families, coaches and club.

We also acknowledge everyone who has been part of their journeys, as well as the coaches and families who have invested countless hours travelling, training and supporting the boys along the way.

Congratulations Darcy and Cale. From starting out as Gilgandra juniors to finishing your representative careers as back-to-back undefeated WJL champions and Country Championship winners, you have given our club plenty to celebrate.

We couldn't be prouder of you both and can't wait to see where basketball takes you next.

Thank you for representing Gilgandra Basketball Association with such pride, and congratulations on an outstanding junior representative career!
