Telstra confirms 5G coming next week - May 29, 2026
After a very long wait, Telstra has confirmed that the tower upgrade for Gilgandra is expected to be switched on by May 29.
The infrastructure was loaded on the tower late last week, giving locals faith that an expected vast improvement to the local mobile network is on its way.
Regional general manager Mike Marom, confirmed that they we're making good progress on the mobile tower upgrade.
"Residents and local businesses in Gilgandra can look forward to faster, more reliable mobile connectivity, with Telstra delivering a new and improved mobile site for the town. The upgraded site has been carefully relocated to a more central location, helping to spread coverage more evenly across Gilgandra and better support everyday needs - from staying in touch with family and friends to running local businesses and streaming services.
"The upgrade is part of our ongoing investment in regional connectivity so people in and around Gilgandra can stay connected when it matters most," he said.
