What was happening in local sport 10-years-ago!
Tennis – The Collie tennis courts spring back into use after they were resurfaced thanks to a lot of local fundraising and a Public Reserves grant.
The cost of restoring the “Wimbledon of the West” was quite substantial, the grant alone being worth $52,000.
League Tag – Castlereagh Rugby League appoint Jessica Skinner as the coach of their 2016 Representative League Tag team. This was the first representative appointment that Jessica had, and it is history now that she has gone on to become the Australia Jillaroos rugby league coach.
Rugby League – Jasper Schembri represents the Far West Academy under 16 team in a trial game against Newcastle at Glen Willow Stadium in Mudgee. On the same day John Ciapparo, Blake Frost and Luke Gale play for the Far West Academy’s Under 18 side also in a trial against Newcastle.
Tennis – Enjoying some tennis coaching sessions being given by Bruce Bunter were Katie Frost, Emma Bunter, Heidi Purvis, Harrison King, Jack Purvis, Noah Ryan and John Bunter.
