Cycling, Racing, Cricket and Bowls - what was happening a decade ago?

Cycling – Gilgandra’s Peter Rohr is one of the 17 core riders in the 2015 Tour de OROC which was a fundraising event traveling 1200 kilometres across the Orana Regional Organisation of Councils (OROC). The longest ride in any one day was 230 kilometres from Walgett to Coonabarabran.

Racing – Anne Hall is awarded the highly prestigious Simon Nivison Special Achievement Award at the NSW Racing’s country and provincial awards evening. The award is given to an individual who has made a substantial contribution to improve and grow country racing. Anne was only the second female to receive the award.

Racing – at the same time Bob Foran is recognised for the milestone of calling 60 Gilgandra Cups.

Cricket – in the opening round of the local cricket competition Curtis O’Connor scores 105 not out for Biddon-Tooraweenah in their narrow victory over Baradine.

Bowls – Barry Johnson beats Bill Gale in a hard-fought B Grade Singles final 31 to 27.
