Water Skiing – 11-year-old Mikey Raglus wins a bronze medal in the tricks section of the under 14 division at the Australian Championships. Mikey was a member of the NSW team that competed at the Championships.

Rugby League – a fiery second half in the match between the Gilgandra Panthers and the Dunedoo Swans saw three players sent from the field, two from Dunedoo and one from Gilgandra. Gilgandra won the match 52 to 18.

Cricket – the annual Collie versus Coast match sees the coveted Cup remain in the hands of Collie after a remarkable comeback by the home side when defeat looked a mere formality.

Sporting Shooters – Ally Prout registers a narrow one point win in the Target Rifle event, with Dave Hopkins second.

Golf – a number of Gilgandra golfers travel to the Hunter Valley to play four different courses. They included Geoff L’Homme, Rob Hay, Russell Anderson, Mick Wilson, Martin and Shiralee Bone, Jenny and Bruce Rodway, Mouse Holland, John McWhirter, Andy Harris and Don Milgate.
