Grass fires keep RFS busy last week
Hot windy weather last week kept the Nyngan Rural Fire Service Brigade busy – with two fires in one night.

The first was at Girilambone, where the Nyngan HQ brigade worked with the Girilambone brigade to gain control of a grass fire which was probably sparked by lightning.
Just as they were released, another fire started on the Mitchell Highway at a truck rest stop. The crew worked into the early hours of the morning to bring the grass fire under control.
