Gil Keeps Going! Fitness Challenge Netball Proves Popular
Fitness challenge update Netball

Over 30 participants, and a few more spectators, turned up to the latest organised activity for the ‘Have a Crack’ Fitness Challenge last week.
Twilight Netball on Thursday, February 19 was well-attended with four full teams able to play round-robin games - with a few subs.
Participants ranged in ages and abilities (and knowledge of the rules), adding to the friendly and fun nature of the event.
Prior to the game, Gilgandra Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) staff continued their health checks (although the heat added to the blood pressure readings!). They also signed up new participants to the ongoing health challenge. MPS nurse manager, John Alchin said the number of registered participants in the challenge has risen in the past fortnight. “122 are now registered, with all completing health checks other than a couple from Gilgandra Shire Council that we will be catching up with this week,” he said.
Activities already completed in the challenge have included a walking event at Armatree, and touch football in Gilgandra. MPS staff have also visited local schools to conduct health checks and provide education to young people. Participants are also encouraged to count their own personal activities and steps per day.
This weekend there is another walking event at Tooraweenah.
