The 2026 season has officially kicked off, with kids taking to the courts and fields for an action-packed opening round.
Netball
The under 12s showed great determination in their first hit-out of the season.
After a slightly nervous start, the team found their rhythm and finished strongly, going down to Saints 24–17 in what was a promising start to the year.
The U16s made an impressive statement in their division two opener, working seamlessly as a team and moving the ball smoothly down the court.
Their efforts paid off with a convincing 58–13 win, setting an exciting tone for the season ahead.
The U11s had a bye in round one and will be eager to take the court next week.
Rugby League
All junior rugby league grades travelled to Coonamble for their opening games.
The two under six teams had a fantastic time, enjoying the game, learning new skills and keeping their coaches on their toes.
The under eights and U10s also impressed, showing strong potential for the season ahead. With several new players joining the ranks, both teams are shaping up nicely and building great combinations early.
The U12s experienced a unique start to their season, playing individual games before combining forces to take on Coonamble.
The format ensured plenty of game time for all players, with lots of tries scored and teamwork on display.
Both the U14s and U16s teams secured a win each, marking a fantastic start to the season.
A reminder to parents for children in football teams from under-sixes through to U12s, that it is GJRLN club policy that our children wear headgear when playing.
We also strongly encourage the older players to wear it also.
There are some spare sets in the canteen, see the girls at training.
Footy is in Gulgong this weekend with the exception of the under-six teams. See you all at training on Thursday.
Go the Panthers!
