After only two-years in operation, the Gil Community Op Shop continues to grow.

Having now donated over $70,000 back to the local community, the board of the shop's incorporated entity are looking forward to a busy winter leading up to the beginning of their donation application process in September.

Board member Helen Naef said the Gil Community Op Shop operates a circular economy.

"Everything we sell is donated, and we donate back to the community. The community gives so we can give, it's two-fold," she said.

"Local groups can apply for grants up to $5000 each, and we have donated to various local interests in the Gilgandra community."

Board member Sandy McGrath said without counting other bigger or miscellaneous items, the op shop receives around 30, 50 litre bin bags of donated clothes a week.

Some of this is further donated through a third-party charity and ends up in Africa. The shop is also dressing the models for the Collie Country Women's Association's upcoming fashion show next month.

Staffed by volunteers, many of which are also board members, Helen and Sandy said they are always on the lookout for new volunteers to help sort donations and sell the products in the store front.
