The Gulargambone Flamin’ Galahs ladies delivered a dominant performance in their friendly tri tag trial against the Nyngan Bull ladies at Victoria Oval in Warren on Saturday, April 10, running out convincing 62–nil winners.
From the opening whistle, the Galahs set the tone with sharp backline movements and crisp passing, racing to a 22–nil lead in the first quarter.
Nyngan found some momentum in the second term and challenged the defence, but the Galahs remained composed and resilient, heading into halftime ahead 29–nil
The third quarter saw the Galahs take full control as their halves exploited gaps through the middle, producing long runs of up to 50 metres to extend the lead to 43–nil.
Their fitness and attacking structure became even more evident in the final quarter, where they added three more tries to seal the emphatic victory.
Standout performers included debutants Piper Hancock and Ash Carlow on the wings. Hancock set up a try with a clever inside ball, while Carlow impressed with strong line breaks that left defenders trailing.
The forward pack also played a key role, especially in the second half, with powerful runs and consistent pressure.
Despite the impressive result, coach King remains focused on consistency, emphasising the need to maintain this level of performance ahead of their upcoming clash against the Walgett Rams in their first official Western Plains women’s Tri Tag competition match.
