Wednesday's Social Bowls
There were 12 starters for social bowls last Wednesday, April 1. The winners with the highest winning margin were Ed Wlodarczyk, Dave Stockings, and Gil Riley. They defeated James L’Homme, Garry Garbutt, and Mouse Holland, 24-8. The remaining game resulted in a 14-all tie with the winner being decided by a toss of a coin. Steve, Jill Hankins, and Ray won the toss against Bruce Parker, Mike and Bob Rogers.
Good Friday in Dubbo
On Friday, April 3, 10 bowlers ventured to Dubbo Macquarie Club to play in their Easter pairs tournament. As it ended up it wasn’t a very Good Friday at all, as there weren’t any prizes that made their way back to Gil, but no doubt a good time would have been had by all.
Easter Sunday Social Bowls
Ten bowlers enjoyed social bowls on Easter Sunday with Bruce Parker and Baden Fisher getting the chocolates in their close win against Cameron Wendt and Jayden Doran, 16-14. The teams selector got it pretty right with the remaining game as well, with it also being a very close encounter.
In this game Lucie Wightman, Maxine Elsom, and Mouse Holland defeated Jess Reed, Jill Hankins, and Norm Lummis by the narrowest of margins 16-15. The shot of the day went to Mouse who wasn’t happy with holding only one shot on the sixth end. With guidance and encouragement from Lucie, he confidently took out both the second and third woods which were held by the opposition and gave his team six shots! You had to see it to believe it. Good one Mouse!
It was great to see Lucie, Jess and Cameron join us for the game and they all played some great shots.
Also enjoying their own games of bowls on the afternoon were Ian Clift and his wife Mel and a heap of their crew who once again enjoyed a game of bowls while being in Gil for the 25th Anniversary of the Martin Clift Memorial Golf Day on Good Friday. The Sporties appreciated their patronage as I am sure the golf club did. A big weekend for them all.
Fours Championships
The Fours Championships will get moving along this coming weekend with quite a few games organised. Good luck to all teams.
