Baker’s Two-State Double
Charleville trainer Les Baker collected a two-state double when Turnstar won at Enngonia.

Charleville trainer Les Baker had a two-state double on the same day with Deciduous winning the Morven Cup in south-west Queensland while Turnstar won the 1400 metres Dunk Insurance Enngonia Cup in north-west NSW.
Runner-up to stablemate Deciduous in the recent Betoota Cup in Queensland, Turnstar started the strongly supported $2.80 favourite at Enngonia and had Nyngan based Wendy Peel in the saddle.
On the very well prepared dirt track, Turnstar was nicely ridden by Wendy Peel and after reeling in the leader Roll Up (Montana Savva, $3) kicked away to win by over three lengths with another five lengths to the third placed Malarina (Jordan Quince, $9).
Wendy Peel had earlier won the feature sprint, the 1000 metres Bourke Bowling Club Open Handicap, on Mon Pierre, trained at Wyandra, near Cunnamulla, by Alistair Webb.
In an all-Queensland trained finish, Mon Pierre ($3.40) led throughout for a length win from Mistrey Emperor (Montanan Savva, $2.50 favourite) and Zouchase (Jordan Quince, $6).
Greg O’Neill also flew the flag for Nyngan as the winning trainer of Our Celebrity in the 1200 metres Bourke Steel and Hire Class Two Handicap.
Backed from $5.50 to $3, Our Celebrity (Liam Blanch) set the pace and won by a length from Snitzond (Jake Pracey-Holmes,$1.95 to $1.60 favourite) and Geewiz Johnny (Montana Savva, $16).
Garry Bignell who was a long time trainer in western NSW and now has stables at Charleville, won the 1200 metres Walsh Hughes Benchmark 45 Handicap with Dreyfus (Jake Pracey-Holmes, $2 favourite) which led all the way to beat Bugden (Montanan Savva, $4.40) and Hemsted (Diego Montes de Oca, $3.50).
An impressive last start Geurie Picnics winner, the Connie Greig, Dubbo-trained Noble One backed up to win the 1400 metres Amarillo Dorpers and Lower Lila Retreat-Rodney Robb Cup Class One Handicap.
The now-retired legendary trainer Rodney Robb from Nyngan was a great supporter of racing at Enngonia and he and wife Wendy Robb were trackside to present the trophy.
Ridden by Diego Montes de Oca who is formerly from Argentina, Noble One ($1.90 favourite) tracked the leaders and close to home overhauled Champagne Queen (Jordan Quince, $3.80) to win by a neck with three lengths to The Terminator (Jake Pracey-Holmes, $2.80).
Owned by a syndicate from Bourke and Frank Roberts from Dubbo, Fierce Impulse (Jake Pracey-Holmes, $1.50 favourite) was the first leg of a double for trainer Connie Greig when after racing alongside Inquisitrix (Montanna Savva, $2.20) drew clear to win by over a length, the 1000 metres Cunningham Concrete - Greencollar Maiden Plate.
