Castlereagh Rugby League to welcome three new clubs in 2026
Gulargambone, Trangie, and Walgett are set to join the fold, but not with first grade sides in 2026.

The Castlereagh Rugby League’s (CRL) annual general meeting (AGM), held in Gilgandra on Sunday, November 23, 2025, welcomed an additional three clubs to the competition.
This swells the number to 15, which is quite incredible given that the CRL started with just six clubs.
Gulargambone, Trangie, and Walgett have been invited to join a Castlereagh Community Cup competition which is designed for clubs that are not up to first grade level.
Whilst the finer details of the competition still have to be thrashed out it is thought that the Community Cup competition will be played early in the 2026 season and will involve the three clubs listed above along with the Mendooran Tigers and the Binnaway Bombshells with the clubs having one senior rugby league team and hopefully a league tag team as well.
On the local rugby league scene Gilgandra Panther officials were well pleased with the turnout at the club’s first training run for the 2026 season with some 40 players in attendance.
That is a great start after what has been a difficult year for the club.
Training is every Thursday night at the junior league oval if you want to join in!
